Break wear information

Clear warnings and indicators keep you on the road and out of the workshop.

Because disc brakes wear evenly, they are also long-lasting and easy to maintain. Over time, however, all brake linings will eventually wear out.

The warnings integrated in Scania's electronic braking system enables worn pads to be identified well before they will cause a breakdown on the roadside. Thus you can plan to make the replacement in conjunction with the next scheduled inspection.

On most vehicles, the sensor on the brake callipers is set to react when ten per cent of the lining remains. A warning lamp on the dashboard will alert the driver.

As a complement to electronic warning, and for vehicles that are not equipped with it, a mechanical wear indicator is also available. It monitors the degree of brake lining wear in three stages – new, half-worn or worn-out. This is a quick and convenient way to check the brake linings during service, to increase safety and avoid downtime in the workshop.
